Koru Creek is 100 acres of protected mature native forest, spring fed waterways, with an abundant kiwi population
Amongst this forested land Anna, Dean and the kids have created organic vegetable and medicinal herb gardens, stone, pip, citrus, berry and subtropical fruit orchards. Homes for bees, chickens ducks and milking goats and a herd of horses has been established.
The vision is to live and model a simple life as sustainably and self sufficiently as life in the western world will allow. Their home includes composting toilets, off the grid alternative power and earth and natural building techniques.
Koru Creek has been designed through the principles of permaculture and utlitises biodynamic farming methods. (The work of Rudolph Steiner)
Koru Creek is also used as a base for numerous business, tertiary, and senior secondary school leadership and environmental programmes.
It is in this environment of constant beauty we observe the young lives of our children. Their individual development and how this is met through the freedom of nature. We are reminded of daily the importance in the role/relationship of nature in the life of a child. This inspires us deeply in the work we do to assist educators and other young children.
