Children deserve places of play and learning which invoke a sense of wonder, curiosity, connection and discovery, through exploration and finding their creative flow. A play place alive with the magic of the natural world, a world of sensorial sensations,
. From this place the child’s innate learning and development to their full potential can occur.
Nature PlayScapes provides design, project management and construction services for outdoor nature spaces, the “outdoor classroom”. More than a landscaped design our creations come from a team including educators, risk management advisors, designers, and parents. Our interest in the development of the whole child underlies the design solutions in each Nature PlayScape.
- Our designs aim to invoke the child’s imagination to seek and find, love life and inspire them to look further and deeper.
- Utilising the power of plants, trees, trails, mounds, natural sensorial sensations, and sand, moving water, sound, dens and sculpture.
- We accentuate the living nature, as through this the child finds their connection to the earth and builds relationships with plants, insects, birds, and more. Developing a sensorial rich environment, the child finds their own learning naturally. From these sensorial opportunities the child builds upon their future intellect.
- Nature PlayScapes are an extension of the indoor space which provides opportunity to find a place for all aspects of play in the outdoors.

Why?
Childhood today is often a vastly different reality to what childhood has been in the past. Children are often spending a large amount of time in a 'restricted' daily environment. As our world comes to a deeper understanding of how climate, limited resources, economic sustainability will impact our future our children are likely grow into the vastly different world to today.
To assist them a deep empathy and connection with what supports life (the earth) is required and as we are told by outstanding author Joseph Chilton Pearce. The connection to the earth is made in the early years of childhood. It is the childs birthright as Thomas Berry wrote in The dream of the Earth that 'teaching children about the earth should be one of the most important events in their life.' What better way to teach the child than let Nature be the teacher. So if taking the children to the forests, beaches and flowing rivers is not a reality let us help you to make local solutions to let nature be the teacher.
